Basic eligibility & Permit
To obtain your learner's permit to learn to drive in WA, you must be at least 16 years old. Once issued, a learner's permit is valid for 3 years. As part of the permit application, you must pass a theory test and an eyesight test.

Learner Driving
While learning to drive on a learner's permit, it's essential to display L plates on the front and back of the vehicle when driving. A supervising driver, who sits next to you, must hold a full valid licence of the same vehicle class for at least 4 years. If you're looking to enhance your skills, consider enrolling in driving with a qualified driving instructor. We can help you prepare effectively for your driving test and help to achieve your goals.
Supervised Driving hours for under - 25's
If you're under 25 years old, you must log at least 50 supervised driving hours in a log book or through the Learn & Log digital version before you can sit for the practical driving assessment or driving test. Out of those 50 hours, at least 5 hours must be completed at night. If you are 25 years or older, you are exempt from the log hours requirement. Additionally, if you are under 25, you need to take the Hazard Perception Test (HPT Test). In WA, you must be at least 16 years and 6 months old or have held your learner's permit for at least 6 months before taking the HPT Test. PDA (Practical Driving Assesment)
Generally, you can make your booking with Dot Direct up to 6 months in advance. We are happy to assist you in scheduling your driving test & PDA Car Hire . On the day of your driving test, you must arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment.
If you need to cancel or reschedule a PDA car hire please provide more than 2 full days' notice. If you have a learner's logbook, it must be completed. If you’re unsure, check with our Driving Instructors for guidance.

At Swift Pass Drive School we aim to offer a professional service and offer flexibility to suit, to ensure this service contines to run professionaly we have the following terms and conditions in place
- 24hrs notice is required for any cancellations otherwise a refund cannot be issued
- The driving instructor reserves the right to refuse a lesson or car hire to anyone who seems unfit to operate a vehicle or may be under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Learner drivers must carry their learners permit any fines or penalties incurred during the lesson are the responsibility of the driver
